Book Title: The Ice Monster
Author: David Walliams
Illustrator Tony Ross
Genre: Action and adventure
Star rating: 5
Best bit: In Victorian times, it was not uncommon for new-born babies to be abandoned outside orphanages, hospitals or even the homes of upper- class folk. Their poor, desperate mothers hoped their children would be taken in and given a better life than their birth families could provide.
Recommendation: Because although it's hilarious it's also historical and educational. It's adventurous and intriguing, there's twists and turns and mysteries to be unfolded. Upper-class punctuation and beautiful illustrations.
How did it make you feel? It made me feel passionate about the past but also about what I want to do in the future. However, it did hurt my tummy because of how funny it was!
