Red Oaks Primary School

Each class sent a photo of someone they respect with a short explanation of why.
Willow Class - Year 2
We respect the British Army, especially in the past, because the soldiers were brave and risked their lives to protect our country.

Pear Class - Year 4
Year 4 chose Prince Philip because whilst he was a man that stood by the Queen's side during her reign for over 70 years, he was also respected as a Duke and the incredible work he did for young people through the Duke of Edinburgh scheme. We cannot forgot he was respected as an amazing Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather. He will be remembered always.

Hazel Class - Year 5
We have chosen Sir David Attenborough. We respect him because he has spent most of his life campaigning and fighting for a better environment and trying to save many animals around the world.

Elm Class - Year 6
We chose Jack Sock because he showed amazing sportsmanship! Even though he wanted to win, he saw the ball was 'in' and told everyone the other player should have got the point. This is showing respect because he could have just let it go and get the point but he respected the other player and respected the rules. Here is a link to what happened!

Elder Class - Year 6
We have chosen Anne Frank as a person we respect because even when her life was really tough, she still tried to be positive and see the best in everyone. Anne Frank showed great respect to everyone (which is clear in her diary that she kept when in hiding from the Nazis in WW2) and we can learn a lot about respect and being positive from her.

Pine Class - Year 1
We chose Queen Elizabeth II. We respect the Queen because she is kind, helpful and protects everyone. She looks after our country and helps us with the rules. She fights for our country to keep it safe.

Oak Class - Year 4
Sir Captain Tom Moore is Oak class’s choice for the Most Respected Person.

Ash Class - Year 1
Greta Thunberg. We respect her because she is trying to protect our planet. She stood up to the giants (adults) and with other children she held a protest. We think she is very brave and kind to the world.

Palm Class - Year 3
We voted to show our respect to Marcus Rashford. We chose this wonderful young man because his selflessness is endless; helping his local community, multiple charities and children across the whole country. Out of kindness alone, he has supported the most vulnerable in our society, with donations, fundraising and taking action himself. We believe he is a perfect role model for children.
Maple Class - Year 3
We voted and chose to pay respect to Prince Phillip, The late Duke of Edinburgh. We chose him because he showed courage and supported The Queen. He fought against Germany in World War II as a Naval officer. This man created the Duke of Edinburgh awards which is a charity that provides opportunities for young people. Sadly he recently passed away at the age of 99, he was buried on 17th April 2021 in Windsor.

I respect this person as she is my nanny and I lost her in 2018, she loved me so much. This is me with her when I was little.
