Monday 25th April
Firstly, we would like to say how proud we are of your children; they have taken all the changes since September in their stride and now come to school really excited to learn alongside their friends. We would like to thank you all for your continued support and the wonderful things you have done with your children to support their learning and we enjoyed updating you during the recent parent meetings. We have found Dojo a really useful way of keeping in contact with you all and hope you agree.

Monday 24th January: Phonics Update
Dear Parents Thank you or your continued support in helping your children with their phonemes. The children are now starting to use them confidently and you should continue to encourage them to make up simple words and write them down.
Over the next 2 terms most of the children will be working on Phase 3 Phonemes. Many of these include 2 letters that make one sound for instance c + h combine to make the 'ch' sound (digraph) or 3 letters (trigraph) such as e+a+r for 'ear' .
Again we will have associated visual signs to help them remember.
Term 3 and 4 phonics skills are:

PHASE 3
Alphabet and letter names
Alphabet and letter names (incl. capital letters)
j v w x
y z zz qu
ch sh th ng
ai ee igh oa
oo ar or ur
ow oi ear
air ure
PHASE 2
s a t p
i n m d
g o c k
ck e u r
h b f/ff l/ll ss

Blending and segmenting consolidation should be the main focus for all children to help them develop fluency in reading and support them in building up words within their own writing.
Alongside these phonemes we will also be increasing the children's ability to read and write certain tricky words which are more difficult to blend.

As with all things please don't be tempted to sit them down and learn everything overnight as it unfortunately doesn't work that way and requires lots of over-learning and repetition but thank you for your support.
Tuesday 4th January
